In a pioneering move, M&S collaborates with the garment restoration experts at Sojo to introduce an exclusive clothes mending service.

Starting in August, Marks & Spencer shoppers will be able to access a tailor-made repair service via the freshly launched online platform, ‘M&S Fixed by SOJO’.

Customers will find a variety of personalized repair options available to them, such as mending torn knitwear or replacing zippers, by completing an online request form.

With prices commencing at only £5, articles of clothing from M&S can be dispatched, skillfully repaired by Sojo’s specialized team, and delivered back to customers in just a week to 10 days’ time.

Established in 2021 by the innovative Josephine Philips, Sojo is driven by the goal of simplifying tailoring and repairs to encourage a transformation within the fashion world.

Marks & Spencer supports this fresh alliance through its Plan A Accelerator Fund, which supports numerous innovation projects directed at addressing climate change quickly and effectively.

In tandem with this service launch, M&S is debuting its refurbished sustainability ethos, Plan A ‘Another life’, across all platforms including its website, app, and physical stores, commencing this month. This consolidates all of M&S’s sustainability initiatives in one accessible hub.

With this strategy, the company seeks to simplify the search for circular economy solutions for customers, helping them make more sustainable choices seamlessly.

Plan A ‘Another life’ also features an instructive array of short, 60-second ‘how-to’ videos created by M&S’s own team of technical gurus. These videos aim to educate on garment care techniques ranging from removing pilling on sweaters to shortening trouser hems.

Richard Price, M&S Managing Director of Clothing & Home, remarks: “At M&S, we pride ourselves on offering exceptional quality products. We’re dedicated to ensuring that our garments are always cherished and never discarded prematurely.”

“With our new repair service, we’re making it easier for our customers to breathe new life into their wardrobe staples. They can now make use of this convenient service or our established garment recycling scheme to extend their clothes’ lifespan,” he adds.

Sojo’s Founder and CEO, Josephine Phillips, shares: “Our vision at Sojo has always been to normalize garment repair and maximize clothing longevity. It’s thrilling that M&S is coming on board with us to carry this vision forward.”

“As a staple in British homes and wardrobes, M&S’s partnership has the power to bring effortless and accessible clothing repair to a wide audience. As an iconic British brand, M&S’s commitment to our Pledge to Repair also lends significant momentum to our campaign for industry-wide changes across the UK,” she concludes.
